For nearly a quarter of a century, I have been amassing a rather large portfolio of curricula, which is anchored by teaching and administrative philosophies animated by trust, authenticity, experimentation, and critical pedagogy.
Teaching Philosophy
Reading and writing aren’t like driving a car or making a sandwich. Reading and writing are ways of knowing, ways of thinking. As a teacher, I help students understand and respect the means and methods of communication and cultural production.
Administrative Philosophy
Leading is teaching. As WPA, I take an asset-based approach to administration and faculty development. I encourage experimentation, and provide support and guidance for the challenges that arise on the path to true praxis.
Reflections & Teaching Materials
As an early adopter of communication technologies and learning management systems, more than 75% of my work is easily accessible via my cloud-based storehouse of teaching materials. Visit Teaching Materials to see a curated sample of my curricular designs and course content.
Observations & Administration
I welcome and delight in being observed by colleagues and strangers alike. I also value the opportunity to observe other educators and discuss curricular design and classroom practices. Effective administration requires trust and transparency. I am happy to share my materials openly and/or at request.
